Overview

Whilst smartphones in general are compatible with Vapour and can be used for scanning purpose, we strongly recommend buying purpose-built ATEX scanning devices for the optimum experience.

If you decide to use a smartphone, perhaps for trial purposes, please follow the instructions per device type below. 

For both devices, please ensure you disable the Hardware Scanner Enabled option in your user profile:

iPhone/iPad

Visit your Vapour instance (yoursubdomain.vapour.scot) on your iOS device. Click the AA text in the URL bar, and then Website Settings:

Then select the Camera field and change this setting to be Allow:

This will allow your device camera to act as a scanner when visiting the Scanner section of Vapour.

Please note: it is not currently possible to activate both the torch and the camera at the same time for scanning. This is another good reason to operate the purpose-built scanning devices.
