Each cask and container record within Vapour has:
- An Issuer ID and a Number – this combination will be unique across all instances of Vapour
- A barcode made up of a namespace and unique ID
The Issuer ID is a reference to where the cask or container's identity was issued. This allows the identity to be used in multiple locations without the need for reprinting the barcode or creating a new identity in Vapour every time it arrives at a site.

Our barcode labels now include the Issuer ID next to the cask Number as well as an identifier symbol next to the barcode ID so you know it's globally unique:

Receipting a Cask/Container with the Old Barcode Label
If you receive a cask or container into Vapour from a remote location and the barcode label uses the old-style, simply reprint the label once and the label can stay on the cask for its entire Vapour lifecycle.
